Reverend Pearl Shannon was
the most gifted psychic-medium I have ever known. It was my great
privilege to have studied psychic development under her tutorship from
1962 through 1966. 'Mother Pearl', as we called her, worked
through a trance state. Always at her side was her unseen spirit
guide Dr. Stafford. He assisted her 'from the other side' and
it was his duty to seek fetch information from the spirit world that was
pertinent to the client for whom Pearl was Reading.
Through
the many years of our personal friendship I had been given many Readings
by Pearl. Her accuracy in predicting for me had always proven
itself true whether going into my past or predicting my future.
However, in June of 1965, I disregarded a Reading which Pearl had given
me. Her predictions seemed more than unlikely, and definitely not
plausible. She was undergoing many personal problems of her own
during this period and I wrote the situation off, feeling that she was
'off course' due to her failing health and current troubled
situation. Pearl had
predicted that I would be moving north of San Francisco within four
years, and that a certain building and address was beckoning me. I
found the possibility unthinkable. I had dreamed of living in San
Francisco throughout my childhood. My dream finally came true when
I moved there in 1961 as a teenager.
I was totally fulfilled with my life in Herb Caen's "Baghdad
By The Bay." It would be impossible that I would ever choose to
leave it.
I
now share with you the original Reading in question and how I learned
NEVER to doubt Mother Pearl's psychic gift.
"17000
Highway 12"
Or
"An
8 and A 3"
Reverend
Pearl Shannon drew in a deep breath of air as she sat comfortably in the
large overstuffed easy chair she sat in while giving Readings. As
always she folded her hands over her solar plexus and then closed her
eyes. She was usually in her trance state within one minute.
Then slowing, she would begin to speak.
"I
see you moving north of San Francisco in no more than four years.
You will live in a small rural community which is somewhere between Napa
and Russian River. It is an area with many oak trees and I see
vineyards everywhere. It is not in Napa. It is not in
Russian River. It is in between. You will be driving through
this area in a car with a close male friend. Your friend will be
driving. I see him suddenly notice this building and pull to the
side of the road to take a picture of it. He tells you what a
beautiful building it is as he photographs it and you will notice a
"For Sale" sign placed on an oak tree next to this Mediterranean
style building. I see this man writing the address of the real
estate broker in a small notebook. All I can see is something,
which appears to be the name of Columbus Dito and San Francisco. This
building is on a highway, which is a number 3. The address on the
building is a number 8. I then see you both contacting the realtor
to see the building. Three weeks later you view it, but decide it
would be too expensive to fix-up. Three months later, I see you
buying it and moving in. Spirit tells me that it is your destiny
to work from here. You will have great success. People will
come to you from all over the world. You will wonder why as the
location is so remote. This is a spiritually unenlightened area
and I see you bringing spirituality there. You will never be able
to leave this area until you learn to love it. Your psychic work
will emanate from this location which will bring you notoriety and
fame."
I
apologize for the glowing potential Pearl foresaw for my career and
reputation. I have quoted the exact wording she used in this
Reading. What next is reported is the interesting 'follow- up'
to her prediction.
In
May of 1968, my best friend, Patrick Curry, and I had both been offered
the use of Pat's parents summer home in Cazadero, California.
Cazadero is a small vacation resort community that is located in the
beautiful Russian River region area of northern California, about a
two-hour drive north of San Francisco. We gladly accepted their
offer and drove off for a weekend stay in the famous Redwood forest
region of Sonoma County. Driving along Highway 101, Pat noticed a
road sign which read, 'Napa ö Sonoma, Right on Hwy 37".
"Do you mind if we take a quick side trip to the town of Sonoma?" he
asked. "It's only a few miles, of course, and I've always
wanted to see what the town is like. Besides, we're early."
"Not at all. I'd like to see it too." I answered.
We
drove around the picturesque town. It was a beautiful community full of
historical buildings, a Mission, General Vallejo's Home and such.
Plush oak treed hills surrounded the community, which lay in the heart
of the famous Sonoma County wine country. Pat felt compelled to
take several photographs as a keepsake. After an hour or so of
sightseeing we decided it best we be on our way. Pat consulted his
map to direct us to the quickest route leading onward to Cazadero.
"Highway 12 is the closest way to cut back to 101", he stated.
Being the main artery from Santa Rosa to Sonoma, the road was easy to
locate. Just a few short miles from Sonoma City lay the rural little
communities of Boyes Hot Springs and Agua Caliente. Suddenly Pat
hit the brakes to the car and pulled to the side of the road. "Wow.
Look at that great looking old building!", he exclaimed.
"I've got to take a photo of that". Knowing he was a great
appreciator of architecture, I joined him as he took snap shots of the
stone Mediterranean style building. "Hey, it's for sale", he
remarked. I then noticed the 'For Sale' sign posted on a
magnificent huge oak tree adjacent to the right of the building.
Pat took out his small pocket notebook and wrote down the posted
information, 'Columbus Realty. Columbus St., San Francisco, Calif.
John Dito, Agent.'
The
following Monday we returned home from our trip. Pat had the
photos he had taken developed promptly. For the next several days
we kept remarking how attracted we both were to that hauntingly lonely
looking old building on the highway in Agua Caliente. Within a
week's time we decided to phone the listing agent and inquire as to the
price etc. It proved to be within our means and so we set up an
appointment with Mr. Dito to view the property. He met us there
three weeks later. Disappointedly, both Pat and I decided there
was too much costly repair work to be done, so we 'thanked' Mr. Dito
but told him we were not interested.
We re-evaluated our decision for the next several days and
contacted Mr. Dito again to see if the building had been sold. It
had not. We made another date to see the property once again. Two
months later Pat and I were the owners. This entire transaction took
exactly three months and three weeks.
After signing our contract, Mr. Dito
took Pat and I to lunch. "I think you two have made a very wise
decision", he said. "I know this sounds strange to most people
but I dabble a bit in Numerology and your building has excellent
numbers. The building address is 17000 which in Numerology is
an'8'. Eights are the number of business and financial
success. It is located on Hwy 12, which reduces into a '3',
the number of happy and loving travelers and seekers of truth and
beauty. Both are exceptional numbers with outstanding
vibrations."
We
moved into the building on September 1st and immediately
began painting the interior. On September 5th, I was busily
painting the lower front room, which was to become the antique shop
area. I was more than surprised to hear the front door bell ring.
I had no idea who could be calling as we had yet to meet a soul in the
community. Opening the door I was stunned to see Pearl Shannon
standing there! "Pearl!" I exclaimed. "What in the
world are YOU doing here?" "Why this is my first trip ever up
here", she replied. "My chiropractor has moved here and I made
an appointment to see him. As I was passing by this building I
felt your vibration and naturally had to stop, Dear One. This
house has such lovely vibrations. It's perfect for you.
Your Spirit Guides feel comfortable here. T hey tell me, "Now you can
do the work you were born to do."
Note:
Several
years later I replayed all the taped Readings Reverend Pearl Shannon had
given me. In 1978, I listened to the session I had regarded as
'totally impossible.' However I now realized that Pearl's accuracy
in prediction never failed me.
Pearl
passed away in 1988. She was my greatest inspiration. I loved her
dearly and think of her each day. She touched and enriched my life
in a way no one else could possibly have. I'm proud to have been
her student and personal friend. Her work continues today, but on
'the other side', along with her dear friend Dr. Stafford.

17000 Highway
12 as we saw it for the first time.
